Nigeria's Spirit is coming Alive.

So Sergeant Sunday Badang dies while trying to detonate a bomb in Kaduna...mmmn. The first thing that struck me was that the event could have turned out differently if things were to be working as they should in Nigeria. If a Nigerian Security Agent has no security, how can he provide it?  Again this brings us to the root of all evils in Nigeria- Corruption! Bare hands cannot serve as Bomb Detonators; you can not send a soldier to the battlefield without giving him fighting tools. It is not even the job of a Soldier to detonate bombs. Explosive experts should have been hired to work directly with the Anti-bomb Squad and provided with everything they would need should they come across substances suspected to be bombs. Where  are the billions allocated for Security, are they dead too?
The second thing that struck me was the fact that while I thought the brave minds of Nigeria were long gone, I saw one of the bravest minds Nigeria has produced walk into his death. I watched the video and saw how the Sergeant hero fearlessly matched towards his destination - the dustbin that was carrying the explosive. The death of the Sergeant reminded me of the Protest against the decision of the President to remove Fuel Subsidy earlier this year. How thousands of Nigerians, home and abroad, spoke up in unison for what they believe in; and even though my heart is heavy because of another needless and avoidable death, the realisation that brave Nigerian minds are coming out of their shells signifies light at the end of the tunnel. Congratulations Nigeria, your Spirit is coming alive!
